What a crazy night the NHL had on Tuesday. When Montreal entertained the red hot Islanders it looked like they would continue their losing ways. That wasn’t the case though as they snap a 8 game losing skid.
Toronto was playing and were also fired up with the new coach and looked to continue winning. Unfortunately for them though Philly is also on a heater and looking to make a mark and climb the standings.
Montreal vs New York Islander
Before the game in Montreal the Canadiens started the night by honouring the past captains of the Montreal Canadiens. It is always nice to see when a team acknowledges its past. Especially when the past was as rich as the Canadiens past was.
Starting off the night with that was just what the Canadiens needed as they pounced first and often. The Canadiens came out to a 3-0 lead and didn’t look back.
The Montreal Canadiens ended up taking the 3-0 lead and turning it into a 4-2 victory on the night. What a celebration to snap a losing streak danger a big win in front of the old captains.
Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Philadelphia Flyers
This was a throwback to the Mike Babcock Maple Leafs. After the 6-1 loss on the evening the questions will start and the microscope will see how the new bench boss can have the team ready to bounce back.
This game took a little bit of time to get going. The Flyers let up some 15 shots in the first period and Carter Hart was perfect. That just set up the game for the second where it didn’t take long for the Flyers to catch the Leafs sleeping in front of there own net.
It may have been the mites game in the intermission that sparked the Flyers. Even though the Leafs came out and tied it up it ended up being a complete slaughter after that.
The Flyers put up 5 more goals in the third and that was all she wrote. Something we noticed also for the first time since the Babcock firing is that the Leafs didn’t play a full 60 minutes. It wasn’t even close to be honest. Nonetheless take a look at some of these beauty Flyer goals on the night.
