Marc-Andre Fleury will be replaced in the 2020 Honda NHL All-Star Game by Vancouver Canucks goaltender Jacob Markstrom, the NHL announced on Friday.

A tweet from the Vegas Golden Knight’s official Twitter account states, “While being named to the NHL All-Star Game is a tremendous honor, the Golden Knights and Marc-Andre Fleury have decided that Marc-Andre will pass on the invitation this year.”

No explanation was given as to what led to the decision of Fleury not participating in the exhibition event on January 25, 2020.

Markstrom, 29, will gear up for Team Pacific alongside Canucks’ teammate Elias Pettersson, who was named to the All-Star game on Dec. 30.
