In what should have been a modest 2 points on Tuesday night turned into a disappointing loss. Calgary once again lose an opportunity to gain some precious points.
The game started off good for the Flames as the former Carolina Hurricane, Elias Lindholm, opened the scoring. His goal came in the first period of the tight affair when he snapped a one timer from Johnny Hockey in the slot into the back of the net.
Unfortunately for Calgary that was when the wheels appeared to start falling off. While the first period was tight it ended 1-0 for Calgary. Not much would change in the second frame either as both teams were held scoreless in the second period.
It wasn’t until half way through the third when the Svechnikov show took over. With just over 9 minutes to go the Russian highlight real took the puck behind the Calgary net and flipped it onto his stick and surgically performed a showboating lacrosse goal.
If that doesn’t get the Calgary Flames fans furious then nothing will.
Then not a few minutes later while on the power play Scechnikov strikes again for his second of the night. This time the Russian took a pass from former Flame Dougie Hamilton and lit it up to put the Canes ahead by one.
Calgary couldn’t answer and that’s how the game would end. Svechnikov 2 and the Calgary Flames 1.
