It didn’t take Don Cherry long to launch his first ever podcast after the long time Hockey Night in Canada host was fired last week. Cherry, who doesn’t mince his words, took to the airwaves on Tuesday to deliver what his audience has been drooling for over the past week.
During the first ever podcast Don Cherry praises Jean-Gabriel Pageau for his plus minus so far this year. Pageau, for those of you who don’t know, is the assistant captain for the Ottawa Senators.
Pageau was a 4th round draft pick by the Ottawa Senators in 2011 and has recently come into his own for the team. Recently Pageau has been on quite the tare as he recorded a hat trick against the Devils.
Don Cherry praises Jean-Gabriel Pageau today on the pod when he talked about the Ottawa Senator and how Pageau is a “fire cracker” because of his remarkable +17 so far this year.
That wasn’t all for the the inaugural Don Cherry podcast. Cherry names the podcast after his old TV show The Grapevine where he routinely interviewed guests in a terrific blue collar setting.
This first episode of the pod featured an early interview with Mourice “The Rocket” Richard. Don Cherry told also talked unapologetically about his firing from Sportsnet and also revealed his next guest who will be Terry O’Rielly.
The next episode of The Grapevine will drop next Monday and continue on Mondays afterwords, until the end of the hockey year. If you want to check out the first ever episode of his podcast it can be found on Spotify by following the link here.
