The Toronto Maple Leafs have to be concerned after losing twice in as many days. This time it’s to the Colorado Avalanche who absolutely steamrolled them in Toronto tonight.
Toronto was playing its second game in as many nights and desperately needed the win to show that they weren’t just in a sugar rush after Babcock’s dismissal. Well it didn’t start out that good for the buds tonight and it didn’t end well either.

However during the game the Leafs did play a touching tribute to our favourite former Toronto Maple Leaf, Nazem Kadri. The Leafs highlighted what was a great ride the kid had in Toronto. The crowd gave him a monsterous roar to let him know they appreciated his efforts.
Other than that the Toronto fans didn’t have much to cheer about. Toronto dropped a decisive match that they very well could have won. They went down early in the game when Nathan MacKinnon fired an absolute laser behind Andersen.
Toronto did pump some life into the game by evening the score. Hyman scores a grinder goal on the doorstep of the Avalanche goalie. The assist on that one went to Kerfoot and the game was all tied up at 1.
That was about as close as the Leafs would come though because after that the Colorado machine took over. Nichushkin added a shorty to put the Avs up by one and they didn’t look back from that point on.
With just over one minute to play in the game the Leafs let in an empty netter which would be the 100th goal of the season for the Colorado Avalanche. The goal by Donskoi was assisted by MacKinnon. This gave him his fourth straight multiple point game, which he has already done 3 times in his career.
In short, the Leafs Are now sitting at .500 hockey 30 games into the season. They are going to have to pick it up if they want a shot at making the playoffs in the tightly knit Eastern Conference.
