Blues and Golden Knights Clinch NHL Playoff Spots

Friday was a weird night in the NHL with the Blues and Golden Knights both losing. Even still with both teams losing the Blues and Golden Knights clinch NHL playoff spots.

The St.Louis Blues fell to the New York Rangers 4-2 at Madison Square Garden. Vegas on the opposite coast fell to the Minnesota Wild 3-2. Both games were barn burners as the Blues took 45 shots on goal. However back in Vegas the Golden Knights, who haven’t been with Fleury, were in a tighter matchup.

The Blues finish off the regular season with other games against New Jersey, Chicago, Philadelphia and Vancouver. This will be a good time for them to get some of the bugs out before likely playing the Predators in round 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Vegas Golden Knights

Vegas has been somewhat slumping as of late. The Pacific division 3rd spot was hasn’t been with their all star goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury now for a number of games.

Fleury to his credit has been off with the birth of his child. He is also reported to be suffering from a lower body injury. Fortunately for Vegas though they enjoy a big enough lead not to end up in a wild card position for the playoffs.

Vegas has had Malcolm Subban between the pipes as of late. With Subban in net they have struggled. The Golden Knights who have a very loud fan base are anxious to get Fleury back. They will be looking to make another long run in the post season this year. Vegas will definitely be trying to mimic the success they had in last years Stanley Cup playoffs.

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are now a week away and not all the spots are clinched. This will make for some exciting hockey over the next several days.
