The new Canadian female tennis star that everyone is talking about happens to be Bianca Andreescu. That is because Bianca Andreescu is destroying the competition.
The 19 year old Canadian Tennis phenom is set to take on Serena Williams in the final of the US Open Women’s Singles Tennis Tournament. The tournament is one of the Grand Slam events on the tennis tour.
This also won’t be the first time these two have met up in the finals of a tournament. The arguably best tennis star in the world Serena Williams played the Canadian in the Canadian Open in Toronto, where she retired the match due to injury.
Bianca Andreescu is a 19 year old Canadian tennis player from Mississauga, Ontario. She is has quickly moved up the ranks in the tennis world from having a ranking of 178 at the end of 2018 to being ranked 14 and climbing… FAST!.
Bianca Andreescu insta the first Canadian Female Tennis star to make a splash on the international scene though. The most recent notable one was Eugene Bouchard who as fast as she climbed she fell even faster.
With all the hype of the US Open finals and this being the largest age gap between two players in this tournaments finals ever we wouldn’t be surprised if Bianca gives Serena all she can handle.
Some of the pundits in the sporting community are acting surprised that she is doing so well, but we aren’t. If you look back at how she has been so dominant in recent time maybe we the pundits and especially the Canadian ones should be a little more complimenting of the young star.
Instead of acting how surprised they are maybe they should be out there tooting her horn for her. Telling the world that Canada is here in women’s tennis and we aren’t going anywhere.
Let the player be humble as Bianca Andreescu is but as for the Canadian media and tennis program its time to put some force in our stars and not be humble. Even if the star looses to Serena Williams in the finals it isn’t a loss for her. They will meet again in the future and Andreescu can chalk this up as a learning experience as to the number one ranked players very minor weaknesses.
We all know that Canadian Women’s Tennis has been here before with Eugene Bouchard, but this time its different.
Bianca Andreescu has easily breezed through the competition in the US Open winning mostly in straight sets. She has only been involved in 2 three set matches thus far.
