The new year started on the right foot for the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night as the Avalanche destroy the Blues in front of a sellout crowd. In what just might be a future Western Conference Championship matchup the Avalanche put on a clinic.

The crowd was fired up and weren’t disappointed. The 18,000+ fans that came to see the Avs take on the Blues witnessed     another strong performance and 7-3 win against the defending cup champs.

MacKinnon didn’t disappoint either as he registered 4 points on the night. Kadri also added 2 goals and Girard had 4 assists to help with the campaign.

The win snapped a 4 game losing skid that the Avs ended 2019 with.

On the Blues side it was utter disappointment. The Blues couldn’t solve the Avalanche until midway through the second when it was already 3-0.

That being said they were able to tuck 2 past Avalanche goalie Grubauer to make it  a 3-2 game. That spark didn’t last long though as the Avs controlled the rest of the game.

Cale Makar ended up getting the eventual game winner with time winding down in the second. This was the Avs night and didn’t disappoint.

This just wasn’t the night the Blues expected to have as even Binnington was pulled in the third. It was a rough night for both Blues netminders as they faced a combined 42 shots by the Avalanche.
