Toronto Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews hits training camp on Monday, after being deemed to be fully recovered from Covid-19, according to the Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas.
Auston Matthews was one of eleven players found to have the Covid, out of over 200 players tested, revealed the NHL back in June.
This announcement comes surely as a delight to Leafs fans as Matthews’ future looked uncertain after testing positive for the Covid-19. Since that time, updates from the club have been limited.
Matthews regular season play, before the league’s pause, looked great, with the 22-year old phenom racking up 47 goals and 80 points in 70 games.
One can only wonder as to whether or not the often deadly virus could possibly have stripped the once-star player of some of his former attributes? Will we see a slower, more easily-winded Matthews? Time will tell.
